"The guitarist's backup vocals are completely off key on track 8."

Congratulations, MyShrimpDied, I guess you and me are the only ones who care if the vocalists are somewhere in the d@mn key. The "catchy chorus" on "Enlighted by the Cold" is another example. Makes me cringe

i got a poster and a signed album cover with mine and the dvd the but the art of balance was sooooooo much better than the war within. i think the chaps of the shadows fall veriety rushed this album a bit. the clean singing by brain fair ruins the album but is made up by his rough voice which i think is really good. the solos are good but do not do justice to the ones on the art of balance. they are not as well thaught out and lack any 'real guts.' having said this, the songs are well thaught out and the drumming is superb. they are also very good live

I just got this album last night and really like it. The guitar work is phenomenal and the drums and vocals are pretty good as well.

You did a great job with the review.

I think that this is an amazing album, by a very good band...

But I absolutely despise the singing on this. For instance, the vocals on "the Power of I and I" and on "Inspiration on Demand" completely ruin the songs for me. I adore the guitar lines and the bass lines, and most of the drum parts are actually fairly good, but the singing just threw it off.

I would give this album an 8.5/10, but due to the singing, I give it about a 6/10..

Are you kidding? Inspiration on Demand is all about the singing. Without the clean vocals that song would be bland and without melody. The Power of I and I is a very aggressive song so I agree about that.

I actually think this album is overrated. It had a TON of hype, so I was pumped for this too, but the lustre has worn off for me. There are just too many repetitive riffs, and Brian Fair's voice just irritates me sometimes. I'm glad I bought TAOB first; it's far better in my opinion.

Overrated, probably. But bad, not at all.

The vocals, as we've established, are indeed Shadows Fall's most questionable attribute. The singing and screaming really irritate some, but not me.

Once I'm unbanned I'll redo this for certain. My opinion of it has changed greatly. Over time, I think I've grown to like it even more than I did when I first heard it.

i got this first, and i thought it was great until i got art of balance and realised it completely overshadows (no pun intended!) the whole of this album. still, this is a great album, and worth a 4/5 methinks.

It was out since last Tuesday.

Wow, this is a seriously old review. I should edit this to do the band justice, as I love this even more then I did back then.

And there are two reviews for this. This Message Edited On 11.19.05

I'll be buying it ASAP. It's loaded with sweet stuff. I took my avatar from the cover of it to celebrate.

You haven't bought this yet!?!?

I figured you would have waited outside a Bestbuy or somewhere in the early morning on the first day it was released.

Damn I must get it.

I haven't had a chance, otherwise I would've.

I don't mind though. I'll get it soon. Given the other SF-related things I've done, I don't think my ultimate fanboy status will suffer, hahaha.
