i used to listen to this on LSD a lot, shrooms too. "the ferryman / madrid's gift of art" would get very intense, like the world was coming to an end. it was awesome.

Well if you're not careful it can get pretty shitty. but for me it was like watching a good horror film; it scares you, but you're watching it to be scared, and you know it's just a movie, so when the movie ends you can say "damn that was awesome!" i used to walk up and down the florida coastline listening to "birth pains of astral projection", so fucking beautiful.
people told me not to jam metal while on lsd because, even if i liked metal, the lyrics and atmosphere would make me think of demons and scary shit. totally untrue. one of my favorite lsd memories was blasting Metallica's Kill Em All front-to-back, it was like being at an 80's thrash party. fucking amazing.
