They have some strong metal influence though. Look at Redefine and A Certain Shade of Green.

This is a sick album, one of my fave alternative rock albums.

I just got this album, its good, but it didnt blow my mind. Dirk Lance is one of my favourite bassists tho. Everything they did after this annoys me because they lost the funky sound and the music became much more mainstream and bland. The funk was the best thing about the band. But the DJ is cool.

And Mike Patton and Bungle are all over this album. You cn hear how Boyd is almost imitating Patton at times, and the brief changes of genre found in this album show the clear Bungle influence. Its not a bad thing though, im a massive Patton and Dunn fan

Listening to this album again right now, soooo awesome. And 6 of the first 7 songs (excluding magic medicine) have 86 or more plays on itunes, 3 over 100 (redefine, new skin, and a certain shade of green) and new skin is my most played song on itunes with 245. Over 4 years after i first heard this album and I still love it.

I completely agree and feel that this is nothing short of a revolutionary album. It's really a shame that they turned so "mainstream" after Make Yourself...if they could have kept reinventing the wheel like they did with S.C.I.E.N.C.E. I think they'd have conquered the world by now.

I just saw the band at Radio City Music Hall and was so disappointed. In two nights the only song they played from the album that they should still be hailing was "Redefine" (which was phenomenal, no less). Hopefully they'll come up with something newer-ish on the next record.

Classic...yes, classic. I really don't even care for their later albums. They lost the funk when they lost Dirk, so tragic.

Easily Incubus' most original and creative album. Definitely my favorite of theirs too.

I miss Incubus sounding like this. Once Dirk left after morning view they completely lost me.
