whether you dig em or not elp are an interesting phenomenon. for a brief brief period in the early 1970s one of the 3 biggest rock groups in the world (and more importantly, the united states) was playing synth and key driven music entirely influenced by classical. statistically, even the jocks at school were going to see the brain salad surgery tour. unless im getting my culture demographics shit way off, like its possible ELP were like a slipknot or iron maiden where they arent at all popular with average people but they still packed out arenas. i wasnt there in the 70s. but its just wild these guys were playing stadiums and shit after just a few records

The Tarkus suite and Bitches Crystal are incredible but I never listen to the rest of album...and yes...my first listen to this was my dad's LP.

My favourite EL&P album is their first one…. which my Dad owns duh.

This is my favorite of theirs these days. The only songs that aren't that great are Jeremy Bender and Are You Ready Eddy, and thankfully they're the shortest ones here so it doesn't matter much. The rest of the album fucking rules imo

I think the album has a problem. It's the unbalanced between both sides. One is a masterpiece but the other is weaker. It's the same with “2112” of Rush.
Anyway, the site Tarkus is probably their best piece, ever.

Title track has its moments, pretty strong overall. Does anyone really play the second side?

I can play, but only sometimes. The differences between both sides are abysmal. So, usually no.
