"round and round" is indeed transcendent
|

“Round and round” is pretty delicious, but for me “Dayzed inn daydreams” is his best group chant to the skies

how does one even write a song like "round and round." unreal
|

Ryus, have you ever heard the song “lightnin’ strikes” by Lou Christie? I feel like the “key changes” in that song remind me of Ariel pink. “Dropout boogie” by captain beefheart would be the old song that most represents the other half of pink

Like “dropout boogie” very literally could have been on pom pom

lightnin strikes is soundin a little square for my taste but the way it ascends into that chorus def feels a little "round and round."
dropout boogie gives me slightly pom pom vibes yeah, not so much his other work but that album possibly

Lightnin strikes rules what are you saying…
But I get it. My final greedy rec would be the song where I traced the producer (Charlie callelo) to his work on that Lou Christie song and it’s a song written by Keith Richards “I’d much rather be with the boys” that was performed by some 16 year old named Donna Lynn as “I’d much rather be with the girls”
Gimme a rec also tho been listening to too much of the same stuff

i recommend medicine - one more. you may know it. one of the most underrated bands of the 90s. they do get some plaudits but i think theyre right up there with the shoegaze/noise rock titans of the day
|
| |
Dope I’ll listen. I’ve seen the name “Medicine” but if they’re good then they’re def underrated cuz I ain’t see it much

wowwww damn
love that fucking wall of sound opening up the song. maybe one of the only noise pop bands that truly lives up to the "noise" part. powerful fuckin sound, coupled with some of the sweetest pop melodies. thats always my shit

it just keeps building and building then it all melts away when you least expect it to at 7:45. incredible band
|
| |
The noise impressed me at first but I wanted to turn the song off after two minutes. so odd how taste works. I went through with the second song in a state of fascination and no offense but I was trending “1.5” on both lol
