I bought this as I liked the cover. Really good album with lyrics that stand up (!) on their own. Amusing that Anderson sees the lyrics as a joke when they make some telling comments on post-war Britain. Whatever happened to the girl on the cover?

Joke or not this is one of the best concept albums ever.

Classic album. Part I is probably the best folk/prog song ever.
Comus is sweet band too if anyone hasn't checked them out.

Man, Aqualung is amazing aswell. Both are pretty much essential. Do you have the newly released remastered LP? Or an old-school one?

Old School!

It's always good.
I've thought about 5'ing it, but I haven't heard it enough yet - I don't own the CD nor the vinyl, and I refuse to listen to it further before owning the latter.

The CD is pretty easy to get your hands on. the vinyl on the other hand might be difficult, id suspect its only available second-
hand too. Although your definitely doing the right thing in getting them before you set the rating.
|

Yeah, although I've rated it 4.5 by now (that's what it deserves at the least).
There's a lot of second-hand record stores in Denmark, so hopefully it won't be difficult - it's easier to find names such as Jethro Tull, Camel, 70s Genesis, etc. in second-hand stores, than finding them on CD.

This is an easy 5 for me. As is Aqualung.

This is one of those albums that signifies the band at their creative peak-and Jethro Tull were most definitely at their creative peak here. 'Aqualung' had shorter songs, with a bit of a rockier edge, but it was here that the band fully appreciated the Progressive Rock Genre, using instruments like the organ and some increasingly tense drum solos to full effect, in which they flow so well with the overall atmosphere. If the world really will end this year, then this is the album i shall listen to just before.

Yes, i agree, This album is a tiny bit better then Aqualung imo, Just an overall better representation of what Jethro Tull are as a band. Probably wouldn't listen to this if the world ended though, id save that honor for Meshuggah.
