album is so good, "bay of pigs" just sounds much better here and the title track is so addictive/catchy

review is great too, didn't realize you were going with the 5 either

edit: except for this!: "In fact it might be the first fully realized album, in all respects, of Destroyer's history."

dude have you even heard streethawk??? that's straight classic, easily his best album, definitely "fully realized" or whatever. just a little opinion thing really but still

Yeah, what I meant there was that I always found his previous albums taper off slightly towards the end. whereas this one ends with Bay of Pigs. I mean, yeah it is an opinion thing.

Make way for what may end up being 2011's most overrated album.

Seriously, am I the only one who notices every sax solo sounds EXACTLY the same?

Yes, you are.

Because they aren't the same. Perhaps you haven't heard much saxophone before? Certainly such a distinct sound would blend into mush for someone unfamiliar with it.

I have, but I don't know; maybe I need to listen again. It just seems like every sax solo here is the same soaring "Kenny G on a cruise ship with Duran Duran" kind of deal.

Pleasant enough record though, but I doubt it'll ever be a "5" for me. Not enough interesting things going on, but it's still awfully pretty and nautical sounding.

I was actually just being flippant. I can definitely see where you're coming from, but saying that every sax solo sounds exactly the same and saying that they're all in the same sort of mood are two different things.

It's a solid 4 for me.

You're right, I went a little hyperbolic on that one.

I really do love the synths though, I think it's just the overly 80's vibe that gets to me. I'll toss it on when I go to bed though, these kinds of records sometimes sound better when I'm trying to relax.
