In regards to the review, I'd call this leagues ahead of Death compositionally at this point in time with Death really never being their equals in the same way Atheist or Cynic proved to be.

Hallucinations was ahead of pretty much everything in terms of technicality when it came out. But as far as Chuck's tech era, Death is in no way inferior to this, Atheist, or Cynic. They were all great bands but they had completely different approaches to their music-- and they were all influential to the development of tech death as a subgenre. I just don't get how you can honestly think that Death was somehow inferior when it comes to tech death. Just a completely different style of it.
ITP blows them all out of the water anyway tbh.

Well my point was moreso about what Cas said in regards to "Death never became their equals like Atheist or Cynic" which, imo, couldn't be further from the truth.
So I wasn't really trying to say Death was somehow superior, just that they weren't inferior to the others in some way. Even though I still think ITP destroys the rest of them, but then I think that album destroys pretty much everything by everyone so yeah.
