I agree Adler's drums are terrible for this album.
The bass drum sounds like it's like, 12x12 or something.

As a lamb of god fan, i really dont like this album, its just not up to par with the other albums that they have put out...although, terror and hubris in the house of frank pollard, and pariah are amazing songsThis Message Edited On 04.28.07

A dude who's not really my friend, but I hang out with sometimes made me listen to this whole album. By the end of it, I wanted to vomit at how rediculously bland and boring the entire album was. There are some catchy leads here and there, but for the most part, it's just muddy chug-chug riffs, breakdowns and really horrible vocals.
And that dude still insists this is good.

It's a decent start, but they peak much later on, imo.

I really like this album...more than Ashes of the Wake tbh...

this is their worst album imo...
the bass drum sound is obnoxious...
and randy's vocals are sub-par.
but black label and subtle arts of murder and persuasion are classic LoG tunes.

Good review I agree 100%. This album gets boring quick

man everything you dislike about this album I liked about it. Randy's vocals are wretched on this album, and that's what I like. I liked the low production,I dunno, this is basically my favorite LOG album for sure.

The Music on this Record is good and I enjoy Black Label a lot, but what the **** is with Randy's vocals here? They suck soooooooo bad compared to the other releases...it doesnt even sound like him.

The re-release of this album contains the story of the making of this album. In short they spend their budget quite fast, they slept and wrote in a van, they weren't allowed to make noise past 5:00 pm, during recordings Blythe occasionally had to sing stuff he hadn't practiced (sometimes drunk), they didn't have much time for re-takes, and to top it off: they only had a weekend left for mixing.
Also, cut them some slack. It's their first real release. You wouldn't compare the sound-quality of "Kill 'em All" and "Death Magnetic" would you? Neither would you compare the production-quality of the old King Kong and the re-make.
Personally I love this album, but I guess I base that feeling on a mix of sheer loving-this-band-feeling and the overall brutality of the album.
Yeah, the sound sucks, but my love for this band filters it all out.

This is their critically acclaimed album and is their best alongside ashes of the wake. Giving it such a low rating is really irresponsible.
