agreed, when i think of the girl to guy ratio of non-sputnik people who like chiodos it's like 9 to 1

yeah. its a shame really. AWTEW actually showed some promise. chiodos was a pretty innovative band at that time. had some interesting experimental sounds that i really dug.

then craig just decided to go full boy-band heart-throb frontman style and it essentially killed whatever chance chiodos had.

It's funny because Craig's vocals worked really well in D.R.U.G.S.

I still love listening to A Little Kiss and Tell and The Holly Situation

This album has songs that I like though, definitely not the ones towards the end...

I really thought Thomas Erak + Craig Owens would work well but didn't enjoy the first 6 songs here

Superb review man. I picked up this album yesterday (a little late to the party, yes I know) but I've been playing in the background almost all day long. Although the catchy soaring choruses may be a little generic, I've been really looking for something less heavy to grasp onto. This did the job really well. Really like most of the songs on the album.

I never fully dived into their older stuff and only peeked into their singles, but this is an album that I'll be listening to for quite a bit. Thanks!

Good review, but I think your history on the band in paragraph one is quite off. With Craig the band was on the cover of Alt Press, headling shows and at the top of the scene. When Illuminaudio came out, they were struggling to book shows and were treated as just another band. Illuminadio was great, but the picture you're painting of them reaching critical acclaim was truthfully the band reinventing itself, and while they were releasing some of their best material, a lot of fans were not interested in a Craig-less Chiodos and they were struggling to sell tickets and tour.
