I haven't read the review or any of the comments (yet)
Two listens in and I keep thinking it's not as catchy as the previous one and they've dusted off their copy of Kid A

Opener is unbelievably good

The catchiness sneaks up on you over time. I find The End Of The Contender, Cold Reactor, R U Happy, Mad Stone, Canary and Enter The Mirror all insanely catchy now.

Wild Guess is pretty good
TV Dog and Canary are bad

this definitely strikes me so far as an album that could've used a tighter cut, but it really is so so great, and i feel like it's gonna be one of those releases where everyone has different favorites

Dagger's Edge is so fucking good, land before time references et all. TV Dog and Don't Ask Me To Beg probably could've been cut but it's an exceptionally catchy album from these guys once again

Yeah the pre chorus and last minute or so when the drums and higher energy come through make it a huge highlight for me

this feels like a companion album to raw data feel, they're so similar in build and quality

This has one really great song and a bunch of decent/mediocre ones.

I hate this dude's lyrics kind of a lot but this is the best rhing I've listened to from these peeps and it's really damn great

Get To Heaven is absolutely dead fucking last for me. Extremely overrated and what initially made me skip over these guys for like a decade. It has a couple great tracks tho

Enter the mirror, Your Money, and Dagger’s Edge is fs the best run of tracks on this, and prob my favourite songs overall besides Cold Reactor

Gyro, that's interesting because 'Mirror' and 'Dagger's' seem the most like GtH album cuts to me - they're both pretty much filler for me on this.
Ranked/Rated:
1. Cold Reactor [5/5] (fun, they always drop at least one great single per album)
2. City Song [4.5/5] (fun, their first 'widescreen and sort of breezy' song)
3. The Mad Stone [4/5] (fun, if ridiculous)
4. Wild Guess [4/5] (fun, lovely guitar tone)
5. Your Money [4/5] (catchy, natural sounding)
6. The Witness [4/5] (bit weird being a 'second closer' as City Song sounds like the perfect closer, is the title a joke as this sounds like Radiohead and they called a closer 'The Tourist'?)
7. R U Happy? [4/5] (catchy, sometimes not in the mood)
8. Don't Ask Me to Beg [4/5] (could be a 3.5, it's a decent Hot Chip song, I dunno)
9. Enter the Mirror [3.5/5] (could be a 4, this and 'Don't Ask' I'm least settled on, bit plodd'y)
10. The End of the Contender [3.5/5] (grown on me a bit but it needed to, just not amazing for an EE single)
11. Buddy Come Over [3/5] (very mid tempo and auto pilot for me)
12. Dagger's Edge [3/5] (awkward transitions, seems B-Side'ish)
13. Canary [2.5/5] (that chorus showing the vocals will remain an acquired taste for some)
14. TV Dog [2.5/5] (I can't concentrate on this, does it exist?)
Basically the bottom four I could lose in a heartbeat and imo instantly the album would work a lot better as a full listen.

Good ranking overall but we def like different things from this band. Can agree that Cold Reactor is the best song, but The Mad Stone is probably my least favourite on the entire album, find it annoying as hell lol.

I’m surprised you don’t like Dagger more tho. Great chorus, love the strings

Nice ranking Doof - your top six plus Enter The Mirror and Dagger's Edge would probably comprise my favorite eight tracks
