Damn, I didn't know he played with Devin Townsend.
I'd have no complaints if Wilson joined the band full-time (the funny interaction I had with him at the Portland show definitely helps). But I feel like -- as with Broderick -- the music is kind of below his skill level.

its not all about skill

Def true, though I imagine that some especially talented musicians might get bored depending on the kind of music they were playing, or eventually feel like there's a mismatch between what they prefer to play and what they're actually playing. Obviously that may not apply to guys like Wilson and Broderick.

tanne talked about entertaining himself by playing different fills every show for most songs but there are some really popular ones like cloud connected where he'd rather keep it straight

Another guitarist who played with Townsend joined Scar Symmetry very recently, now that's a better band for a player of that level of talent

Caught their show in STL last night. Still a fantastic live band, never fail to crush.
I will say, this album is pretty OK, didn't blow me away. But live most of the stuff does hit pretty nicely.
Standouts for me weren't surprising - The quiet place, Bullet Ride, Colony, Cloud Connected
