second half (minus New York, that "only motherfucker who can handle me" bit and its paper thin chorus can fuck right off) is what makes this better than s/t
this was very frontloaded, but I feel like Masseduction is the opposite

I'd go out on a limb and say it's her "Prince record"
very funky in some spots, some of her craziest guitar work and very sexual throughout

Los Ageless, Johnny, Savior, New York, and Slow Disco are all my favorites early on. Pills I enjoy for the lyrics because they're so asinine. The rest is either forgettable or hasn't made an impact on me yet.

Prince Johnny is so damn good.

Didn't get into this one much. I thought a lot of the melodies were really annoying.

I only gave this a couple of spins but it didn't leave a great impression on me either. Marry Me and Strange Mercy felt a lot better. Maybe further listens will help?
Digital Witness is a great track tho.

Yeah those two sounded much better to me as well. Digital Witness is catchy, I'll say that much.

5.5 years of no bumps is a pretty accurate marker of how this one has aged

i'm rather let down by how inconsequential in all respects this turned out to be, but i do keep coming back to this many times over tbh

This was the album that introduced me to Annie, and it remains my favourite of hers.

yea I discovered her during this album cycle, has some nostalgia from that (+ some legit killer tracks), but I find myself jamming her debut the most these days!
