Bump. My sisters used to jam this a lot when it first came out. Always liked it but just now starting to realize how truly genius it really is.

Apparently this won the grammy in 1999 for album of the year over Madonna's Ray of Light. For that, I harvest negative feelings.

Nah, I'm playin'. I'll check this soon. I'm sure it rules.

seen this lady thrice, all in the 2010s when her bad rep as a live artist / tax evader was solidified. the first time was so beautiful, in port chester, on a huge stage. she was on time, and looked great and youthful and not at all weathered with a buzzcut and a cool ass sweater. voice was maybe 80% of the way but it was great nonetheless. 40 minutes late to bonnaroo though. this album brings the people together

I spent FOREVER trying to find the second time I saw her though (bonnaroo was #3). it was a free concert called "louis armstrong's wonderful world festival" in queens. sort of buried by the internet unless you know the exact date and title of the event. strange

I wonder how much "kids talk" interludes in terms of duration there is on this album

Minus the interludes this sounds like every other female r&b album that has ever existed.
