A4 is incredible. It also came on a time where atmospheric metal was giving us gems from Paradise Lost, The Gathering, Amorphis, etc.

Silent Waters from Amorphis is fantastic. Don't know any album from the other two, although I've heard of them for quite a while.

Silent Waters is a very good album. If you like atmospheric metal of the 90s you can try:
The Gathering - Mandylion
Amorphis - Tales From the Thousand Lakes
Paradise Lost - Icon
All these are awesome.

@Artuma
I think there are lots of people on here who like A4 but they don't speak their mind freely since the general consensus here is towards their latter albums. The Greek edition of Metal Hammer had it as #1 metal album for 1998

Yes manos. Greek magazines/audience loves soooo much their 90s works. By the way A Natural Disaster is fantastic.
Imagine if Anathema was still a band writing music like Alt4 , Eternity. Paradise lost should bring them their coffe. (hard , I know)

@Artuma Every site has it's preferences. Sputnik loves progressive so thats why WHBWH and WS have nice rating and Eternity and Silent Enigma a bit low. All music has Eternity as their best , metalstorm has Alt4 as their best and blah blah blah

Paradise Lost have been through many motions but they're still a great band. It's interesting how all these bands from the 90s evolved throughout their careers. Think Amorphis, The Gathering, Anathema, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, etc. They all went towards "softer" music. Apart from My Dying Bride of course.

Oh man I wish I was older. 90s was a magical era for music.
'Think Amorphis, The Gathering, Anathema, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, etc. They all went towards "softer" music. Apart from My Dying Bride of course.'
Don't forget Katatonia. My problem with bands like Paradise Lost and Katatonia is that they have great songs but they are all so similar to each other and makes their albums a little boring for me.

Yeah the 90s had some great stuff. You had the decline of Iron Maiden and Metallica which was very frustrating apparently but on the other hand you had the rise of all those great bands that were producing something very different at the time.

Never listened to Paradise Lost, but that is very true in regard to Katatonia

Paradise Lost have the same flaw. I mean all the songs from Draconian Times and Icon are fantastic but I can't listen the whole albums.
