Both this review or these comments have yet to hit on whats going on in the new reign very well by any means. Let me start this off by saying Born of Osiris will be a huge part of the future of melodic and progressive metal. This album only slightly showcases the potential of this band. Their drummer writes these songs, and I can't rave enough about the talent of this guy. His guitar playing is well beyond that of most guitarists out there. His drumming also happens to be what I think is the most unique style in metal today, Not only are his bass drum patterns technical, but his cymbal work is so creative and he does fills I've never heard of before. Anyone who has doubts of Cameron Loche's creativity needs to listen to the self titled track and point out one song that has ever been drummed to like that. Now the songs Abstract Art, The takeover and brace legs keep this album from being a classic because their old versions from their band Rosecrance were recorded far better. Also Bow Down is and has been their worse song, but is prolly kept around for the fans it does attract which is a smart move on their part. Now for those of you who think this is The Faceless Jr. or anything like the faceless, I couldn't disagree more. They both use diminished patterns, and keyboard sections to drive their riffing, but The Faceless is a brutal tech metal band, while BOO is a prog melodic metal band. Their production makes the tones similar but their playing styles come off very different.

I'm going to see these guys with Unearth in January... I know Unearth will be awesome but I'm not sure about these guys.

These guys remind me a lot of After The Burial, which is wierd because ATB gets 5s and this band gets 3s.

I would call this album a solid four.

The acronym for this band states how I feel about them.

They used to program the drums is what I heard. I'm liking that there isn't too much negativity and banter going on with this review.

Another good Sumerian Records band that incorporates breakdowns in a tech-prog-death style.

(After the Burial, The Faceless come to mind.)

don't understand how they managed to release an album that is barely 22 minutes long, despite this, it's an extremely good start for a band so young.

that bit in abstract art that sounds like something out of crash bandicoot is hilarious but they pull it I reckon
