whoa, a flurry of activity in my absence.

Also, to be fair if this isn't flagged as the default review, a reasoning could be that this technically isn't so much a critical review, but a review/essay hybrid of sorts. Also, Downer's review is dated and not up to par with his newer stuff, and Med's is from the early days of Sputnik. It's a trend I find intriguing on the site, because the best reviews on this site, frankly, are the newer ones that take on a more journalistic tone. the old Emeritus ones, once considered the best, are no where near some of the quality of the staff/contribs of now. I'm flattered with the response.

I've noticed a lot of old reviews are pretty lacking compared to the newer ones too, honestly I think there are a lot of regular users now who write better than some of the really dated ones. But I guess that makes sense, since when Sputnik was new, there would have been fewer users, and therefore fewer good writers around.

Well, back in 2005/2006, downloading single tracks was still more common than downloading full albums, and Sputnik was just coming from the ashes of the old forum of MXTabs (I think it was called?) and so tbt was a logical way to review an album for the peers on the site, since it was less about some journalistic standard and more about just recommending music.

lol same, I just get that feeling more when it's just people making the same chord progressions based around perfect fifths in EVERY SONG

See...this review is actually good 'cause there's actually ties to be made between the music and your argument. Your NMH one seems silly compared to this.

This took a few listens to grow on me, and when it did, that was it and it became one of my all time favorites.
