I've been nu-metalling a lot in general recently. Some of the grooves from the time are still pretty fucking killer

Yeah it's relatable so in that regard, Staind holds a little place in my heart, but their early material and s/t is still solid music nostalgia or not. Nothing spectacular, just solid good stuff.

Listened to this again a few days ago. Definitely very good yeah.

Last time I jammed this and Dysfunction was years ago, but after listening to them again I was kinda surprised at how actually "miserable" these albums sound. There was a lot of angst rock around that time, but this is quite a bit more successful than most of its peers in creating that "please seek professional help, dudes" vibe

Haha agreed. Album was heavier at times than I remembered too. And obviously Aaron had a really great, unique voice as well.

lol my great aunt knew Aaron Lewis back when he was in high school and he looked like such a nerd back then. I wish I still had the photo but she showed me this ages ago.

Tormented is their best album, but this and Dysfunction are still great. They used to be very dark and moody but then went completely downhill with 14 Shades.
