Gave it another listen, and still don't think it's quite a 5. It's definitely an amazing and epic album, but I still feel that some areas just dragged a bit.

Second listen? I Started at a about a 3.7-3.9 then by the fifth or sixth listen the record grew and those dragging bits made more sense.

Like the 4th listen all the way through.

The last time I checked this band, they were a ridiculous rip-off of early Moonsorrow with too much accordion.

I don't really think sounding like Moonsorrow is a bad thing at all, much like how Gallowbraid sounding like Agalloch isn't a bad thing either.

I only heard the first Finsterforst album yet and it made my ears bleed. I might give them another try with this one.

Probably I only listened to the worst songs of this band so far:

Please tell me the new album sounds different than this or I won't bother checking it out.

It's more like their previous album ...zum Tode hin, but with a new vocalist and more atmosphere.

Well, that's good news. I love pagan- and folkmetal, but some of it can be quite awful.

To be honest, one of my favorite parts about this album were the interludes, I thought they should have incorporated more of that sound throughout the rest of the album.

I thought they were excellent breaks from the rest of it, just to make sure the listen wasn't too much of the same thing.

That's the effect they had on me, except I was left wanting more, lol.
