Just assume that every Ulver album sounds different.

Well the "black metal" influence is almost zero to none on their latter albums
Also fantastic dig eternium, one of the more under appreciated shoegaze/noise pop albums during that time period

Much of Ulver is pretentious waffle, no direction, experimenting is great but when self indulgence comes out the other side sounding like one confused mess then well... enjoy your own trip, don't expect others to 'get it'. They've had some good points but never seem to round off an album without filling it with mess. The vocals, he can sing but sings far too many uneccesary notes on a track, much of it not fitting in anywhere just slapped on. Anneke from the Gathering is the same, good singer but puts far far too many notes in there. "look i can sing" yes great, we know, don't over do it.

this album is extremely tight no signs of wankery here
