My favourite songs on it always were Nine While Nine, Some Kind Of Stranger, Marian and Possession. Especially the first 2 mentioned songs are perfect for wonderful days like today with high fog and a little bit rain (or maybe snow). This is a december album to me.
also yeah 1985 was an interesting year in the goth movement, I like to add Clan Of Xymox, very important dark wave band at least here in europe, first album was in 1985, the second one year later even better (Medusa)

Clan of Xymox definitely deserve more love, personally I'm more into their debut. Haven't checked their 2020 album, but the 2017 one was fine.
Marian has always been my fav song here. It's the SoM song I'm most attached to but I wouldn't call it my favorite in general, there's too much excellent pre-1985 stuff contending the spot. Maybe Temple of Love could be their best song?

Also I love many other dark wave bands and artists, a genre I could never forget.
Dark wave had a quite big following here in germany till the mid 90's. Even if it got less after that there are still some very good dark wave albums today even if not many.
I would recommend something like The Frozen Autumn - Pale Awakening (1995), an italian dw band. Wonderful atmospheres on that album.
