For people who find The King of Limbs lacking, I recommend checking out the Live from the Basement version. It's just the band playing the instruments live in the studio, so better production and less programming, and bonus tracks as well, one of which is the best song on the album (Staircase). The Butcher, Supercollider, and These Are My Twisted Words are also from those sessions and are all fantastic songs.
Why they chose to omit half the songs they recorded from those sessions from the studio version of The King of Limbs I will never understand.

@Talonsoffire:
I actually understand why Radiohead kept those tracks out of the album, I think KOL is one of their most cohesive works, and adding additional tracks would cause it to lose that succinctness, which is one of its greatest strengths.
It's just that, for all purposes, it was a modest and quiet release from Radiohead. Which is respectable, but modest music just doesn't quite fit Radiohead.
@ Sowing:
Oh, I agree. This review is magic. But the score makes me cringe. I don't quite care what you write to be honest. I'm just using you for the rating.

the intimacy of the live from the basement performance almost makes the modesty of the thing appropriate / enjoyable imo

The King of Limbs is more cohesive than this but I think it's also the problem, it needed more imo. In any case I just wish those songs were widely released somehow.

This doesn't need it, but the special edition will include bonus tracks I believe.

Seeing as their usual mode of operations is to pump out an In The Basement before they go on tour...
They only have about two weeks to pump one out if they continue that approach. Also fitting in an entire orchestra in that room is going to be tricky.
Think an In The Basement for this album is a little more unlikely. But, still possible, of course.

Row I don't dislike Limbs - I have it 3.5's and I consider five songs on it excellent....that just equals a 7/10 in my book

Fuck no! Honestly though that album is still good, but pretty dull compared to all their other stuff, minus Pablo Honey. This is a real return to form.
