Yes, that is the point. On this site it isn't very popular, according with its ratings. For instance, today someone gave to the album 1.5.

This album has only slightly grown off me over time, but I still enjoy it quite a bit. Stupid Dream and Deadwing are probably my favorite PT though.

This will always be my favorite Porcupine Tree due to nostalgia alone.

''I can understand that many people prefer the first era of the group, their more psychedelic era.''

I personally love both. Their psychedelic era was more Floydian, spacey and generally more melodic, and the second era presents a rough edge towards prog metal tendencies, and even alternative. I think their music became more polished, more tight than ever and it's a good thing. I'm also a big fan of Gavin Harrison's drumming. So overall, I surely have a thin preference for their second era.

After relistening couple of times, I decided to bump this up to 4.5/5. ''My Ashes'' is better than I used to think, almost as great as ''Sentimental''. The t/t and ''Sleep Together'' have their great moments as well. ''Anesthetize'' and ''Way out of here'' remain my favorite tracks, really.

Way out of here is incredible when played live and Sleep Together is so fuzzy that gives me a Kar-Wai Wong dizzy, dreamy feeling.

i like the post opeth 'heavy' sound wilson was going for with these records but it feels like the music itself got really shallow by comparison
