I like some of the earlier tracks a bit more than you do Doof (there's a few 3.5 level tracks, maybe a 4 or two thrown in there), but I definitely agree the two closers are the big highlights.

What's your 'first half' highlight?

'Uranus' impressed me [.....]

Uranus, Jupiter, and Neptune are the three best on the first half.

That opinion holds with my earlier ratings, guess I'll keep dipping into this album - maybe just a couple of songs at a time

That might make sense. This can be an overwhelming listen, and most of the time I find it difficult to remember individual moments aside from the two singles.

I'm re-listening to The Age of Adz now and am really enjoying it, even more than previous listens. Right now it and this are around the same level of quality imo

So I just cut out all the aimless ambient tracks and put this in the order of the planets (I included Pluto because why not, along with Moon and Sun) and I already like it better.

1. Mercury

2. Venus

3. Earth

4. Moon

5. Mars

6. Jupiter

7. Saturn

8. Uranus

9. Neptune

10. Pluto

11. Sun

I think Sun is the best ambient song and makes a nice closer, since Pluto ends a little abruptly. The worst part about this ordering is that Earth comes so soon, and a vast portion of it drags.

If you could put this album in a tube you'd end up with a very long tube. Probably extending... twice the size of the universe. That's because when you collapse this album it expands...

I still have a lot of love for Saturn as a standalone.

Mercury is the only really amazing "song" here imo. Earth is a great piece but I wouldn't reach for it often.

Pluto and mercury are stunning but this thing lacks any sort of cohesiveness.
