Mort - we call out bullshit because there was a period of time people weren't force fed bullshit 24/7.
If bullshit is all you've ever known you don't notice it going in.
I'm getting used to it/starting not to care though so apathy will win out :D

I just think it's naff that every journalist's stock 'second question' in ANY given interview at the moment is 'how does this fit in with the feminist movement of 2017/18?' - it's not always relevant and when it isn't relevant it just feels cringe to me to shoehorn it in.

Pitchfork put up a whole new article based on the quote and this is the biggest recent album - so I was reading up on Byrne seeing if he was about to say anything interesting about the album. He didn't, he got asked 'why no women?'

im not denying any of your points- im just saying its a pretty done to death point and when you expel it in such a simplistic little paragraph theres not much point in even saying it

It's just Byrne's a bit of an elder statesman/living legend - I guess it's good press for him and he took the question in good grace, it just made me feel even dumberererererrr for reading it.
A continuous slide...

theyre just on the page before this. you probably wont find them as annoying as i did, but then again im a miserable loser with nothing better to do with his time so dont mind me
|
| |
yea i think its a matter of how you interpret it
i saw it as "this is stupid and they should stop doing this" rather than any attempt at analysis. i dont think he should be chastised for pointing out that it's stupid and they should stop doing it, even if that position may be an obvious one to get to. even if we feel that it may be an obvious one to get to, clearly a lot of people dont feel that way because its still happening. and if we chastise people for pointing out stupid things just because their stupidity is obvious, arent we allowing stupidity to run rampant and maybe even normalising it?
BUT HEY I DONT HAVE A PHD IN POLI SCI OR WHATEVER EITHER

love u too
it wasn't supposed to be a political diatribe or a call to arms or anything, just thought someone else might have read the quote and done a little puke too
little pukes are fine, you observe and move on, I still low key like Pitchfork and high key love Byrne
|

"I still low key like Pitchfork"
do they even do anything worthwhile these days

Pitchfork are hilarious now they're trying to rewrite the history of popular music since the mid 80s to reflect their all consuming love of the current trap scene
Give me a chuckle most days
|
| |
wait so you like them because theyre so fucking garbage its hilarious or do you actually like them
im confused

A bit of both - they definitely have current fads/agendas...but then don't we all, as fans, at least vocal ones like us
They do put up some good content, their 'best albums of the year' series is good - the 1998 one they put up last month got me into a few albums I hadn't noticed before.
A love/hate thing I guess you'd say
