Keith Buckley is a good shout, and Jacob Bannon too

Definitely Bannon, too. Buckley just comes to mind because I was jamming Petal a few minutes ago.

Garret Rapp used to write pretty great lyrics.
Used to.

I would argue Underoath's lyrics were great up until the new one which is straight-up dreadful
but yeah most metal/metalcore bands are interesting in spite of their lyrics, not because of them

“this site is really bugging me w the shit albums getting such nice averages”

I've always been a big fan of Spencer's lyrical work. Never too on the nose, never too obscure, never tries to sound too smart but doesn't quite sound too simple either. He's the quintessential post-hardcore/metalcore front man in my eyes.
Until the latest release of course.

I'm scared to listen. Dare I risk my lunch on it or stick to something that won't possibly ruin my appetite?

Sounds interesting, I'll have to check this one out

Seems the feature has gotten a few people to have a listen to this band for the first time. Honestly, this isn't for everyone. If you don't usually like metalcore, you probably won't like this haha.

i'm loving this so far but yet again i find myself irritated by the clean choruses jammed into like every song
like it's not nearly as much of a buzzkill for me as it was on, say, the newest Polaris album, but it still bugs me.

yeah clean vox here are my biggest gripe. if they dropped the choruses, it would differentiate them so much from the rest of the crowd.

Bloc, Fit for a King's new one is worth a listen. Bit a a regression from the one before it but still solid. Same with Phinehas' latest.
|

Not a fan of Phine Ass, but I'll check FFAK. Never heard their stuff before.

This is The Contortionist's Exoplanet if it was made by a less talented metalcore band with obnoxious clean vocals.

bruh just tell me how this album is different than their last 2
