It's interesting because this twitter response shows up that people expect recording artists to be protected from fair critique to a large extent.
Movie ratings are clearly bought as often the early ones before release are 20%+ higher scores than what follows but music criticism has to be similar.
Album isn't even the fourth best LDR album but up go the early 100 scores, how this many critics (who you imagine listen to hundreds of releases) could believe this is a career defining, life changing/life affirming slab of genius I don't know? Because 100 out of 100 rating would tend to suggest that's how you feel about it :/
Back in the days I used to read the rock rags down WH Smiths I always loved how if a band were on the cover/feature interview with Q they'd always get a positive review, whereas Mojo didn't get one so 3 stars out of 5 for the same album.
This review being one of the only non-financially motivated reviews is the more likely scenario.
