Mannnn if this had only Paul's vocals it would be a 4,5-5, maybe Ed's vox will grow on me

Interesting dynamic between the two singers, I'm digging this

I like the vocal contrast. I gotta go through their discog, always been meaning to

It's killing me to say that because I love Ed's albums with DSHS and Anatomy of the Bear but... I feel he adds nothing in this one. Paul's lines are better and he's a better singer overall.
I'm only two listens in so maybe my pov will change on that. I hope so.
Apart from that it's not a bad return at all. Witness Marks and Signal Fire owns.

Gibbs clean’s are a dealbreaker for me. They are unlistenable.

Adds diversity for sure, but I won't argue about Paul being a better singer
@Steak yeah man, their first 2 albums are almost as good as Rinoa. The Belong Betray EP has great jams too

That's a shining endorsement haha, I'm hype to jam them then :]

"For those unaware, Devil Sold His Soul have been around since their formation in 2004."
I would remove "their formation in" because formation implies that's when something is born or started and that's repetitive of "have been around" if that makes sense. Besides that great review. Started this this morning before work just to get an idea of what it was going to be about and that piano swell into "Ardour" is outstanding.

I want to like this because the production and songwriting are really good, and the band has clear instrumental talent.
but oh man Gibbs needs a vocal coach, he is so painfully nasal. I sigh with relief every time Green comes in instead. I'm just two tracks in and I'm hoping the rest of the band can overcome that

I definitely understand how Gibbs’ voice can be divisive. It was very noticeable at first, but I’ve grown into it after repeated listens. I can say with confidence he has the best screams on the album too. Ultimately, I love how both voices work together here, but can understand why others might think differently.

his nasally screams are fine/good, but his attack-attack era cleans are pure agony to my ears

He wasn't that bad when he was alone in DSHS. It's strange.
Paul is the one giving me chills here, and I dislike Time.
I can't explain why.

this album is a 3.5-4 if Green does all the cleans. there were some tracks where the cleans weren't quite as bad, but overall they are a huge turnoff for me

exactly how I feel. whenever those cleans disappear for awhile I'm like "WOW, this is AWESOME" and then my impressions come crashing back to earth when they return

Really good album, which is nice because when I first heard Beyond Reach a few months ago it was one of the best songs I'd heard in a while. Really like the uplifting vibe on it, and a few other songs too.
Also it it just me, or is the lyric "I found" in basically every song lol

But Not Forgotten blew me away too, what a song. That could have been the last track.

wow this sounds great. Reminds me a bit of The Elijah and early A Skylit Drive era with their first vocalist. On my first listen now and this might be one of the best records ive heard this year

Really don't mind the vocal performance as much as other. I'm struggling to draw who it reminds me of but totally takes me back to all the post-hardcore coming out around 2005. So maybe that nostalgia's carrying me.
