Get on my level scrubs I can play under the bridge on the acoostic geetar with the 7th chord and everything. Clearly I'm the one true RHCP fan.

that 7th chord voicing really is lit though

The whole point of the song is to play that chord. Everything else is just foreplay.

The more i listen to this, it becomes obvious that ππ₯π’π§π π‘π¨ππππ« π°ππ¬ π§π¨π ππ‘π π©π«π¨ππ₯ππ¦ within the band.
While its somehow good to have Frusciante and Rubin back in RHCP, Anthony Kiedis silly abstract songwritting is also back, and thats the main problem of the record. He tries hard to act like his 30 year old version to keep up the pace of other members, but he falls short, really short.
I really enjoyed 2010Β΄s Peppers, because Klinghoffer brought musicality and Kiedis finally accepted and acted according to his age, even if they had to sacrifice once and for all their trademark funk-rock, but at least they made their most diverse and sonically interesting records.

Maybe Rick Rubin was the problem all along

Josh was the best thing to happen to this band since By the Way, naturally they kicked him cos Frusciante hype would carry some mid singles into the top 40 and they couldn't be bothered making another actually interesting record

Yes thatβs sounds like such an accurate perspective of their thought process.

..or maybe its you, who just start giving more attention to ChadΒ΄s drumming? The man has been very consistent throughout his entire career on Chili Peppers and Chickenfoot.

This album contains a 60-year-old man ranting nonsensically about an aquatic mouth dance (wtf ever that is). There are a handful of great moments in here but mostly we have a well-performed snoozer and Anthony kiedis does his best to make sure not a single song here can be taken seriously.

Chad's been like my 2nd-highest reason to listen to this band, sometimes first, especially after seeing this vid
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H4ECV4kIxE
one of the most overlooked musicians in a popular band in proportion to how good he is, 90% of people just mention Flea/Frusciante or how much they hate Kiedis

Man this album is hard to finish in one shot. I'm halfway through and not really keen on finishing the rest.

White Braids and Pillow Chair is one of the loveliest songs they've ever written. Hidden gem of the album imo.

That's one of the more coherent songs on the album, but here ever after trumps everything here for sheer infectiousness for me.

Frusciante should sing more chorus like he does in "Heavy Wing" or "Dosed". It gives the listener a fresh breeze of vocals, among those wicked raps by Kiedis.
