This had some pretty good tracks on it, but I only listened to it all the way through about once, so I only remember a couple of the first ones

I can't believe I never got into this album before, it's soo good.
You can see it influenced a lot of recent hardcore/post-hardcore albums/bands as well...the 2 most recent Underoath albums have got a definite inspiration from this...
I love the ambient melody sections, and then the sudden rushes of brutality...
Sweet review as well, spot on.

I absolutely love this album. I haven't listened to it in about 3 or 4 years, but man, it's really good. The Tropic Rot has re-awakened my love for Poison the Well.

Been on a PtW binge recently, as will be seeing them with Thursday and Rise Against soon, and am definitely going to have to bump this to a 4.5
Such a great album.

I remember I saw these guys I believe the week this came out or maybe a little before and I bought this at the show and this album just blew my fucking mind for so long - still awesome but also not on constant rotation as it once was as many have said. So much respect for these guys.

Probably one the greatest pieces ever to come from these guys. This album has changed my life in so many ways.

Warallthetime, was it the suicide watch tour or whatever it was called? Because I know this album reflects around a friend who committed suicide, which gives it that honest emotion of vulnerability and sincerity. That is what I believe makes this album so powerful.

this album just never gets old to me

I just popped this on because I really got into Tropic Rot, and I wanted to go back and listen to it. I still like this, but I love the direction they went with Tropic Rot because it is more relevant to what I listen to now, but for it's time, this album is great.

Agreed, I've definitely listened to The Tropic Rot a lot more recently (it was my favorite album this year, duh). This one's timeless to me, but Tropic Rot is sooooo close to this it's not even funny. After time I may even consider them equals.

Can someone tell me what is the main difference between this and December?

This is good, but I just don't see why these guys are regarded SO HIGHLY. It just won't click.
Whatever the problem, it's probably the same reason why 'We are the Romans' won't click.

maybe...
both Botch and Poison the Well get a lot of their acclaim from the fact they were doing it before most other bands (late 90s) -- so if you didn't get into this style until the mid to late 2000s and had already heard a bunch of other bands do it before you checked out Botch or PtW, it might not have the same impact.

You probably hit the nail on the head. I guess they'll just never hook me... It's a good thing there's so much other music to love.
