Just got this, a friend recommended it
To me it sounds like a Born Of Osiris-esque band trying to do The Faceless.
And failing fucking horribly.

in my opinion...one should not review and album they don't personally like. Otherwise the album has a neg vibe and thats just beat as hell.

That's a silly thing to say. I reviewed it objectively, which, you know, is what I'm supposed to do. This Message Edited On 04.26.08

Horrible cd if you want to here the true potential of this band check out their old cd All Things set aside vocals are 100% better and music is much better this cd is a huge letdown and the new vocalist is horrible

I still think We Bow In Its Aura is really really good.

live its absolutely amazing.
the guitarist records the leads for all the breakdowns and loops them while harmonizing at the same time.
seeing them live made me appreciate the cd much more.

Live doesnt make the CD better. We Bow in it's Aura is good for the first 3/4s of it.

seeing how they do it and talking with the people who made it does make the cd better. it gives a background to the music, some meaning that enhances the impact of the cd.
so yes it can make the cd better.

I like the majority of the breakdowns in that song, actually. The only one that's not very good is the final one. I still really, really, really like the rest of the track though.

God I wish I could get into these guys really bad, but they make it so damn hard. When they get it right, it hits so hard. But everything else is so trite.

They really don't hit anything right at all. Another rehash deathcore/ metalcore/ bullshit core band.

Their actual riffs and melodies I can really get into. But they just have too many generic breakdowns.
|

lol deathsnore.

the problem with a band like Veil of Maya is that their vision for the music gets immediately lost on a bunch of label bickering bitches on a review site. No one would claim there is much originality left in Deathcore or that there was even that much originality to begin with. Veil of Maya's strengths are in their melodies which has little to do with the core aspect everyone bitches about.
lol every time someone whines about break downs i wanna puke. duh its unoriginal the idea of the break down has been around as long as music. heavily overdriven guitars may have affected the concept application today but overall its the same idea.

oh yeah i agree with the review when it says the songs dont sound finished. The band could work on flow for sure. i feel like i'm being abused as the listener a little every time i listen to the album. This Message Edited On 07.08.08

"and the drummer, seemingly the most naturally talented member of the band, holds back pretty much the entire time."
did you even listen to the album?
