you guys are insane this band is crazy good. The vocalist delivers ranging screams along with vocals that range. The band does have a lot of breakdowns but don't hate them. Thats their thing.

i wonder why the reviewer delt with this album is such way, the album is brilliant
one of the best post-hardcore albums of its year!
Asking Alexandria never matures, or does anything overly interesting. She bludgeons you with stupidity and immaturity for over 45 minutes, until thankfully she is murdered by a kind man named mercy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey anyone who hates scene/emo/-core stuff like this album (i guess)...i (age 15...haha) have been working on getting my own band going for
the past 2 years and I am, *looks at self*, well...here, let me just spell it out for you...I have on a baseball tee (just plain...not a fan
of baseball...of course), black skinny jeans, flip-flops, and I have short(-er) hair wax/clay-ed emo-ish hair (not dyed black though...and im
not wearing eyeliner) and I am one of those "over-analyze everything/worrier/perfectionist (i guess)" thinkers...and as I sit here a lot of
the time (as I am now), reading all my favorite bands' reviews (I am obsessed with this site) and making sure to look intentively through all
the "hate" reviews and seeing how everyone hates techno mixed with high-pitched singing and screaming (even with death growls...somewhat) and
even when bands try to mix it up a little (like Asking Alexandria...not by much though...i know...) they get these kind of comments: "You
could list a huge number of bands trying to emulate Enter Shikari’s earlier material while trying to fuse this sound with a more contemporary
metalcore sound. Asking Alexandria is not doing a good job so do yourself a favour and chance your arm listening to the next band..." or this
"Armed with their skin tight pants, Bring Me the Horizon-esque haircuts, Asking Alexandria sport their own brand of synth – laden metalcore.
They of course are not the sole perpetrators of following the current trends but the extent to which they follow them is quite remarkable.
Before producing their LP “Stand Up And Scream” it is quite possible their record label handed each member a criteria of what must be
included in the record. Downtuned guitars, multiple open string breakdowns, sharp production thanks to one Joey Sturgis, sugary autotuned
clean vocals, a scream vocalist capable of mimicking other successful vocalists in metalcore..."
and I sit here and think this... (continued...sorry haha)

(cont.) I am trying to make my band unique...and I have spent the last year learning how to sing good (classical vocal teacher) and sing high and I'm
watching the Melissa Cross stuff now...and I used to be able to scream and I was really good at most types of screams, but then, after I
started to learn to sing, I guess my approach to screaming was not the same as is for my clean vocals, because now I can't scream without
hurting my throat (fuck...), but aside from that and having to possibly gve up screaming (it's harder to come by a good singer, so I guess
it's okay to just not be a screamer), the past two years I have spent writing all of this music (with he help of some band members...but not
much...I come from a musical family, so I know more than you would think) for my band, and in the songs I have been writing recently and the
older ones I have been redoing, I see they have these things (not all of these things in every song, and not reapeated to annoyance):
breakdowns (but not just your average...we try to make them complex), we tune to drop A# (i think that's what Bury Your Dead uses, just to
give an example of how low it is), tremelo picked "deathcore-esque" guitar (I hope you know what I am talking about...Miss May I uses it...),
high-pitched singing, all the types of screams used by Asking Alexandria (I only say that because it's easier to say one band that uses
highs, mids, and lows...it's not that they sound just like AA's) , gutterals, synth, techno "breakdowns" (like what AA and AA! use
sometimes...but not sounding like them too much), complex drums, solid bass, and we want to make SERIOUS music...not LET'S SAY "OH MY GOD"
AND "FUCK" 50 TIMES...and have a "fun" sound...we want an "awesome" sound...and by the way we have a couple guitar solos...but we didn't make
guitar solos on purpose there are just some parts where we had a good (not fast and complex, but good) lead riff playing by it self with some
rhythm guitar and no vocals to let the lead shine...and we were like "hey! who put that guitar solo there! who knew we were going to have
one!" haha...but anyways I am doubting myself now about my band...but I put ALLLLL of my time and effort into it and I plan to continue...so
after my life story/novel, NOW I have one question...why? (continued...sorrryyyyy hahaha)

(cont.) why do all of you haters say this style of music is crap? I can see some of the bands sounding the same...but it is very well executed (by
AA, mainly)...so what am I going to do with my band?! I like our sound that we we are maturing into after these two years...and we sound
unique, but dont play "The Word Alive" really fast guitar, and we do use the elements of the scene/emo/-core bands...but we have changed it
and made it our own and put new twists on it to make us be a "breakthrough" band in this scene...that's what I hope we will be...but it will
be a few years or so before you have heard about us probably...and by then, who knows what new elements will have been brought to this music
scene...so I have my doubts...but I don't want to give up...so, what should I do with my band? and, why do all of you haters say this style
of music is crap?
thank you so much, Sputnik community...please help me by answering these question though, please...=)
