its not black metal and cradle of filth were never really black metal, but for extreme gothic metal this is pretty much as good as it gets. the first 3 tracks are just one great riff after another and the rest of the album holds up

vempire is also pretty awesome and i like midian but its when they really started to slather on the cheese so beware

Actually I disagree. I consider their first albums gothic black metal. Sure they have death metal and even prog metal elements, but I think they're predominantly black/gothic metal nonetheless
