Nice review. The only thing i've heard from this guys is "nothing's gonna hurt you baby", I think I'll have to give this a try

Atmosphere, song writing, vocal hooks - all here imo

Atmosphere and vocal hooks for sure - I'm not so sure about songwriting though.

Yes, but all employed to achieve the same washed out dreamy sex vibe. They should have stuck to EPs or mixed up their sound imo, this is too samey for me

Works for me. Chopping this into three EPs would bum me out :3
This genuinely has the highest number of 'memorable songs' I enjoy of any release this year, hence the 5. Looking at the concensus that's a strange opinion to hold I guess but it's how I'm feeling it.

I don't think it is so strange, it does what it does really well. I love the fact that there is a lot of similarity on this record. It would feel a bit strange if they pulled out random heavier tracks or overly long ambient sections.

I'm not saying they should have gotten sludgy or proggy or glitchy, just gone for a different vibe on a couple tracks. Mixed up the instrumentation, anything

That's fair enough. This is my AOTY so far anyhow, but then I have only listened to about 20-25 new albums all year repeatedly.

Listened to close to 150 albums from 2017 and this is top of the pile, and I'd say it's been a decent year so far

I've got a funny relationship with homogenous records. On one hand, this bugs me a little, whereas I adore Merriweather Post Pavilion
I've checked 27 albums from this year apparently, haven't rated anything above a 4. Must be missing something big

Poly - How come we both ended up rating Goldie 'Timeless' a 4 on the same day?
Concerning 2017, maybe you're just harsher towards new album's than me :/

dang sunsetz is really nice, gonna have to give the rest a listen

This is so repetitive

repetitive is a strength here

I wouldn't call having the same song structure and rythmics 10 times in a row a strenght.

Album Rating: 5.0
Why not?
Conventional wizzdom be damned
First listen I found this repetitive, sure. 10th listen and I found it repetitively awesome

Is this good to jam on Vinyl?

I can't not think of a female vocalist in a smokey room listening to this, hard as I try.
