Sundowner a bit high and Motorcycle Boy a bit low for me, but that top three I can definitely get behind.

Surprised to see Here’s The Thing so down there, it is currently my daughter’s favorite, so it also grew on me due to the repeated plays.

" it is currently my daughter’s favorite" Makes sense, the chorus basically sounds like Jonas Brothers lol

Hehe, maybe. I’m not familiar with the body of work the Jonas Bros gave us, and now I’m confused if I have been missing out for all these years.

@zakalwe lol a perfect assessment for that song - it's good, but it's such a sports video game title screen track

Nah, none of other albums are like this and I’m glad lol. What’s your beef with post punk?

none at all bro, just think bands like Shame, Protomartyr, or even Idles did it better...at least as far as I am concerned with the previous album.
"silverchair and biffy clyro" ahahah actually got some indie Smashing Pumpkins vibes here and there, which was kinda cool lolol. I don't know Biffy C sorry. I just thought this album branches and drinks from different fountains (hehe) and still felt kinda fresh to me. Desire is so good bros.

Just came back to this after a 3-week break and have to bump the score; the songs that felt like acquaintances three weeks ago feel like new old friends now (if that makes sense). It's definitely a grower.
I still think the mouth noises on Starburster are dumb, but I've grown accustomed to them, and could even imagine them being a lot of fun live (in the right mood). And the drawling Oasis-esque vocals on Motorcycle Boy still ruin what would be an otherwise great song for me - try as I might I just can't disassociate the image of Liam Gallagher's egregious head from the song...
Everything else is perfect.

I sort of maxed this one out, still great but other stuff has been more intriguing to me this year
It's a 'reached your peak listening enjoyment after ten listens' type of album

You can’t rinse this sort of stuff, you let it seep its way in.

I didn't, I got to about ten listens over three weeks which is pretty slow going..and then to my surprise it just dropped off.
The pre release singles perhaps didn't help, maybe were too familiar by the time I got to this...but even then, it's a very agreeable and pop format'ish listen and that can lead to an early peak.
It's still a 4.5 and I will return obviously, but it does lack a teeny bit of depth compared to some other stuff this year.

I agree there.
I think it helps though, this is a real palate cleanser.
