The messages to his daughter were ALL the binary code. Most of it spelled out the co-ordinates to the base except for the last message which was STAY
Well I mean, any super secret base would be pretty easy to find if someone gave you the exact co-ordinates, wouldn't it? Obviously if a future version of him hadn't shown him where it was he would have never found it, but that's kind of the point
I mean, what you've got to understand is they're pretty desperate. Michael Caine points out that their last food source on earth, the corn, is going to die eventually, and they know it takes years to do interstellar travel on the scale they were attempting, so they needed to leave as soon as possible. Not surprising that they skipped on some of the training and that they chose the first possible candidate they had when the journey takes that long and time is so short for them. As for why they didn't contact him before, I've got no answer, but that's a tiny nitpick. Maybe they just didn't know how to find him or even if he was still alive until he found them

I could argue these points but I've had this discussion with so many of my friends that I don't even have it in me any more to continue

Aww Xing I was just starting to have fun I never thought I'd see you of all people back away from a solid movie discussion, cmoooon

Also, I already wrote a song about Blade Runner which is pretty much the greatest sci-fi ever
|
| |
Had you seen the film earlier, I'd probably have continued with you lol. At this point though, I've discussed it for hours upon hours with like five different people

It's not my fault my cinema's so behind on the times!
As someone who firmly believes sci-fi is one of the best if not the best genres we have today in art, Blade Runner can fuck off
|
| |
Too bad Blade Runner is a work of art that is a part of film history

Sure it's part of film history that doesn't mean it's a good film
Harrison Ford's acting and the character he plays are unbelievably awful and make we wish Deckard would just die every second of the entire film

No. Just.... no.

But....
yeah. He was awful. The only thing that saved it for me was Roy, and Rutger's incredible acting. Even then, he was superbly underused

Solid list except Rise Against lol
|
| |
Rise Against is pretty awful but that's okay. I'm not even going to vote this year. I've only truly enjoyed like three albums, compared to last year where I had a million amazing albums to choose from. I'll just wait for the end of the year lists that the mods post so I can find the goodies I missed

Damn this has been one of my favourite years in recent memory
I hope you at least tried Holy Vacants

It was pretty good, though the vocals sometimes got on my nerves. I haven't listened to it since around the time it came out though, so I'll have to rejam

The vocals take a while to adjust to granted but musically it's superb and the lyrics/concept are incredible
