i really don't have an issue with their more streamlined and contemporary approach to songwriting, and they balance that straight forward and digestible elements with the occasional flair of technicality really well without it sounding like the wankery i hate from bands like this. i think they execute it better here than they did in polaris and the balance between the ambience and heaviness is on point.

I understand how most of lower rates come from their lack of evolution. But I didn't start listening to them until recently. And as a album, taken out of context, it's pretty damn good. The only thing I really hate is the length, if I put it on loop for some times I'll get bored faster

Yeah the length is the biggest issue. Sounds amazing in headphones and in the car, though. I'm sure someone will come along and tell me why the production is actually the worst ever and I don't know shit about shit, eventually.

i enjoy this album a lot, but yeah tracks like "orbital" and "the arrow" could definitely stand to be more expansive.

This album is epic. Holy cow. My only complaint is that it feels too short. I think they could have added a little more in the middle to really draw it out to hit some of the bigger moments harder. But ultimately I'm really impressed by this. Passion, energy, and direction. Probably one of the best albums I've heard so far this year.

When I ran this in Musicbrainz it seemed to think the binaural mix was a set of different tracks. Couldn't come up with a way to export them though. If thats the case, the CD is over 70 minutes long, explaining why its such a short album. At least in part.
