"Garden Window and Disillusion are comfortably better than M/M, and this + Endless Light are about on par imo. But then again, Beggars is stronger than any O'Bro from Disillusion onward..."
Have to disagree, especially not Disillusion (although a good record). I'm going to agree with nightbringer, M/M is second best Thrice and even better than Beggars.
I really like most O'Brother but they don't touch the run Thrice had from Vheissu to M/M.

I'm liking the ambient/melodic approach on this album. I'm not all that saddened at the lack of crunch and sludge. Good stuff.

This was a surprise. I still have to grasp the chill aspect of it. Not sure what to think. Excellent review and thanks.

Not their best effort but I appreciate them branching out yet again, and making something more subdued and chill.

Yea Mongi , changed it up for sure - not sure how I feel about it though. Endless Light is so good.

Garden Window is like the pinnacle of genre bending. It’s like the best album no ones heard. And yea Endless Light is beefy as fuck. Disillusion and Death Of Day are also brilliant.

I'm a few songs into that album and it's pretty solid so far. Wouldn't really liken it to O'Brother much, though. Much more anchored in post-hardcore than the post-metal and alt rock O'Brother blend, imo.

True, that bass sound is similiar though and Black Water is very O'Brother-like. That album didn't really catch me until the third or fourth listen btw. So if you're not that into it at first, give it another go, especially good on headphones

I enjoyed it for the most part. You’re right about Black Water.

I liked this, especially the first half but near the end I felt the songs lacked impact and started to sound formulaic and draggy. Maybe they'll grow on me.
I'm a stubborn old man with this band, but I mean put any of these songs toe-to-toe with a song on "Garden Window", they don't hold a candle to it. Yes, it's not the same style of music but this music just seems too easy to make, it's too simple and focused on the vocals (which still sound excellent). Garden Window is a full fucking experience.

It is quite different and I can understand any of your complaints. It did grow on me pretty quickly, but I'm settled on a 3.5 anyway. Really like Killing Spree, Halogen Eye, Locus, Spill on the Carpet.

Just getting to a second listen on this and I think this is right up there with Garden Window for me. Smooth vibes. Awesome song writing from top to bottom.

Yeah I love them both. Vocalist is special. He displays great subtlety and range on both albums (whole discog really). It’s awesome how this band has progressed.

Finally gave this a listen. Admittedly I was so tired that I fell asleep part way but I liked what I heard while conscious! The vocals seem really improved which makes me happy. The vocals had been a bit of a hangup for me with this band in the past.
