"Ryus bump that rating man come on
The opener, Summer Wasting and the title track alone justify it"

i guess youre not the boy with the arab strap

It is funny that supposedly the band wasn't aware what an arab strap is when they wrote the song. Hard to believe.

But this level of charming naivety/innocence one could expect from a band like them. Not many others would qualify, though. Sufjan and Enya comes to mind.

They were friends with Arab Strap, I guess they just thought of that band.

Hmm, this one may even top If You’re Feeling Sinister, can’t decide which one’s better in their betterness.

This was when they became more of a band and less of a Stuart Murdoch solo project - never quite had the same magic for me over the course of a whole album.

Seymour Stein is the absolute bollocks

Honestly, I struggle with most B&S songs sung by Stevie or Sarah. Just love Stuart's voice I guess...
Haha - just realised I've now commented on Saint Etienne, Belle & Sebastian and Suede in the past 2 minutes - add Pulp and I've got my 4 desert island 90s UK bands.

Seymour Stein starts like a fcked-up Simon & Garfunkel pastoral, but I actually like its ending a lot.
Suede & Pulp are way better than Blur & Oasis, so I’m there with you markjamie on that island, like it or not.

From the 90s (but not from the UK) I'm also inviting Björk and Nick Cave, so if you can deal with them too you're very welcome. Blur can come if they bring 13.

Sounds like a party! “13” is peak Blur, no doubt about it.

Only B&S I haven’t heard the whole way through. Minus their last few, but all the songs I heard from those was trash so who cares
