Pretty sure it was Jamie himself who walked up and handed me this album while I was walking around with my parents and brother. He seemed really sad and was just trying to get anyone to listen to this album.

The year this came out, this guy walked up to me at the fair and said something about how he was supposed to play but they won't let him now so he's handing out copies of their cd and asked if I wanted it. That's how I discovered Xiu Xiu.

Yeah it definitely opened up my eyes to a different spectrum of music and he and my dad had a few minutes conversation with my dad encouraging him. My dad and mom had a recording studio/label and went to SXSW the first three or so years it happened to try to get their bands more attention.

I remember liking about 2 songs from this but after deciding to revisit Xiu Xiu (also, Knife Play) on shuffle as a quick re-introduction I like pretty much every song from the album so far.

Listened to this & Knife Play in full & can confirm old me was wrong, this isn’t occasionally good, its very good, enjoyed KP as well. I remembered these guys grating on me with more consistency.
I should probably check more of their discography.

'Eau Claire' is mildly amusing... in a 'this sounds like a twinkly nursery rhyme kind of way. Not a bad song though, weirdly.
