^See, too much of that everywhere. There's a lot of filler on this, especially disc 1.

This is one of my favorite albums of all time, and it's perfect except for revolution 9... John and Yoko should have saved it for one of their solo albums.

This is a really great album, the acoustic ballads are my favourite (I Will, Julia, Dear Prudence, Blackbird). And the rockers are really awesome, Happiness Is A Warm Gun is one of my favourite Beatle tracks, and you can't forget While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Helter Skelter.
I love the novelty songs too, Rocky Racoon and the Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill are my favourite. The good songs definetley make up for the filler, but the only one I consider filler is Wild Honey Pie.

i might as well comment....this is my favorite band after all.....
Second best Beatles album, behind Abbey Road....absolutly love it. I agree with the "recommended downloads" wholeheartedly.

I still can't get into this, and the rating has even lowered from a 3.5 to a 3 now. Granted, there are some wonderful songs on here, but as a whole album it doesn't work.

My favorite Beatles album
Although its fillers are pretty obvious, I think the quality of the real songs overshadows the fillers. Seriously, it never gets old for me, I can listen to this all day.
A True Classic

You said Mccartney sings Helter Skelter. Lennon Sings Helter Skelter.

No he doesn't.

Yeah, that's McCartney. He's got a far rawer (more raw?) voice than Lennon on the whole, with the possible exception of Twist Shout.

the filler oddly seems to enhance the overall feel of the album, which was basically a jumbled mess of songs. quite the contrast to sgt. pepper and mystery tour. White album kicks ass. And Ringo was a great drummer with great feel. Listen to the MAgical Mystery Tour album and tell me he sucksThis Message Edited On 04.11.06

Dear Prudence doesn't have a piano. the song is led by a finger-picked acoustic. Nice review anyway.

They've both got amazing voices and they can do pretty much whatever they want with him. Listen to the Plastic Ono Band record to her Lennon's raw voice or you can listen to Yer Blues, or the chorus of Happiness Is A Warm Gun off this album.
And as for McCartney listen to Helter Skelter, I'm Down, or the beatles cover of Long Tall Sally.

this review does not seem like he ever listened to the album thru. if you listen all the way you see long, long, long is the perfect song to complement helter skelter its soft tranquil sounding opening riff helps bring back the energy level, going so far to the oppisite and more mellow but it works great. honey pie shouldn't be listend to as a normal song its not even a minute long. and julia and i will are good, obla di obla da isnt its great.

Helter Skelter is a great song

this album blows me away. but i prefer side 1 to side 2, because back in the u.s.s.r., ob-la-di, obl-a-da, rocky racoon, while my guitar gently weeps, etc.

Fantastic review. Just one thing though, you said 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' was the prominent Harrison song for the Beatles. Surely that'd be 'Something', though?
Whatever, a great review nonetheless.
