uh oh

ProgJect precisely had the intention to cover that album next. Not necessary anymore. Good review, Sowing. If you have time, this link might interest you. It's surprising how much similarities we can find between Days and Future Past and:

If you're interested in early prog, check out Procol Harum's debut, it's quite possibly the first in the genre.

You're right, vanderb0b. Procol Harum are the very instigator of the genre.

Their 2nd album (1968) contains that 17 min song called In Held Twas in I that is considered as the very first progressive rock epic.

TDAGARIM would be the obvious choice here but you've already done that so hmm...
What about your very first album? You must have some emotional attachment to that.

What a coincidence, I just decided to get into the Moody Blues earlier this week (at my father's recommendation, lol) and went to listen to this, probably going to bump it to a 4.5 soon. Gave the band page a bit of a cleanup too, it was needed. The falsetto in the chorus of Nights in White Satin is a thing of genius, as can be said for many of the album's aspects, especially if you consider this was released in '67.

Nice 99th Sowing, big pos.

Tyrael: I don't remember, I think it was a Beach Boys greatest hits collection or something...but it was a gift and I was like 9 years old so I didn't care.

Nagrarok: Thanks, I actually reviewed this pretty randomly. I was going to do In the Court of the Crimson King, but decided that people know enough about that one so I just picked something that I feel is on the same skill level but less recognized on the site. Also my dad got me into this band as well...what is it with dads and the moody blues? lol

I've only heard this a few times of course, but I'll probably always prefer ITCOTCK, because of its essentialy simple approach of breaking all conventional rules of pop music; which it did quite brilliantly.

Also yes, Jethro and I were planning to do this, but I have no doubt there's other excellent MB albums that we could tackle.

I personally prefer ITCOTCK as well. But there is no denying either album's brilliance. Damn I have the urge to review the Moody Blues' discog now but that would break the rules of being a contributor. Well not really, but I would get tired of not having a chance at features lol

Ha yeah you are right Jethro, both go in the same pattern too:

importance to genre/background, band member contributions, talk about the concept, overview.

the other one more stuff but overall the reviews are in the same vein lol

@Nagrarok, I only own 'Days of future passed' and compilation 'This is the Moody Blues'. I've heard good things about 'Seventh Sojourn', but it looks like Sowing is the man of the situation.

I wonder if you all young people know these MB hits of the 80s:
