Can't say I've ever liked this one. His vocals and the sound as well are great, but the actual music (the notes) I don't find that gripping. Maybe it's just the kind of music that flows over you and people like that, not too taxing.

I'm surprised there's not many posts about Astral Weeks.



The vocals are just stunning on this. I don't think anyone I've heard has done such a great job with this kind of frenzied vocal style, but maybe Jeff Mangum on Aeroplane could be an exception.



Not that the instrumentation takes a backseat to the vocals or anything; it's top notch. I guess to me Morrison's voice is the part of Astral Weeks that really comes to mind when I daydream about this album.

I just listened to Astral Weeks, what an experience. MUCH different from Van's other work. It's a bit more alternative. Personally, I think people overrate it a bit too much, but it is still an amazing album anyway.
