Guess it's all about melodeath tonight.

Had to up this to a 5. It's just too good not to.

Can't argue with that lol

I really wish more melodeath bands took influence from this. But then I don't think that many bands could've pulled this kind of sound off, so maybe it's for the best.

Cenotaph's stuff gives me similar vibes, namely Riding Our Black Oceans (something which I've also coincidentally bumped to a 5 recently, first and only one to do so lmao). There's also a more overlooked band called Ablaze My Sorrow that had some With Fear elements on their first album. And if you don't mind a bit of melocore, early Neaera mixed With Fear influences with a Slaughter of the Soul structure on their first few albums before unfortunately leaning more heavily into the Slaughter style of melodeath.

That's just off the top of my head for With Fear especially, there's quite a few bands/albums out there that relish in early AtG-isms, and it's always fun to find the ones that do instead of the ones that are more influenced by Terminal/Slaughter.

Cenotaph came to mind right after I posted that lol.

I know I've heard Ablaze my Sorrow but as far as I recall I didn't like what I heard, so I never checked out more by them. Guess I should give them another try. Definitely haven't heard Neaera, but I'll jam. I don't really care if something is metalcore, I only care that it sounds good lol

But yeah I guess there's a few, could probably even put Eucharist's debut in that category, although it's definitely got its own thing going on. I'd definitely like to find more bands like that though, just feels rare especially compared to all the Slaughter influenced ones. There's a lot of bands in that category I do like, but it's definitely nice to hear something different / more like this.
