Wow so you actually were talking shit about this band while only hearing this? What a guy

That's nice. Now would someone who isn't an absolute asshole like to answer my question?

the foundation is the same from this ep, but the songs do get to have more depth and variety musically and lyrically.
wake is the ideal starting point, and you should've gone from there imo.

Thank you for the level-headed answer. I'm sure I'll give Wake a shot in the future.

I wouldn't bother with Pow!, but I would definitely give Wake a listen. It's a more developed version of this sound. I used to adore this EP but after listening to Wake, I do find this a bit difficult to go back to because it doesn't feel as refined. I will say that I hate Culture Scars and hadn't realized Mental Knife came out until just now, so can't comment on the newest album yet.

Yeah, people seem to be raving about Mental Knife right now, but I don't know if it's just because this site (all of a sudden) seems to have a lot of HTS fans.

The one-two punch of this and Wake coming out so close together definitely gave the band quite a bump in popularity among post-hardcore circles

Yeah they have been pretty beloved on Sputnik since their inception

I just listened to Wake, and while I think it's a slight improvement over this songwriting-wise, it's just more of the same and it doesn't appeal to me. The vocals especially get really tiring after a while. The band is talented though; I can see why people like them.

Me too. Some of those hooks are just too good

Wake is a huge step-up from this imo. The lyrical content really matures and becomes interesting on Wake. Been a while since I've heard this, but I remember the lyrics being full of teenage "yer a whore" angst. Unless I'm getting this mixed up with Pow
