I listen to his other stuff (and it’s good), but nothing else is like this. Have you found anything similar?

no, lol nothing i've found yet can even begin to replicate this sadly
but that's also a great thing lol
only thing that kinda blew me away near the level of world of echo in '13 was trespassers guide to
nowhere by night shift, you should try to check it out!

It's true; “World of Echo” is one of a kind . . . Thanks for the recommendation. I will check it out.

I haven’t heard Another Thought, but if it's better than this I'll have to check it out.

it's not nearly as progressive/avant-garde, but it has some of his most beautiful melodies in my opinion

this is my favorite, no contest
another thought is unbelievably good but it'll never touch this for me
russell's style/variety spans out real far... another thought is nearly nothing like this in
comparison but it's still a strong release - definitely check it out, twig i'm sure you'll love it

i'm not gonna disagree with that, i always thought this was his most acclaimed album by far though, i only heard about another thought and calling out of context through reviews of this

and yeah, a little lost is gorgeous, topped only by the chorus of home away from home which is another level of beauty still

idk some hypnogogic pop comes close in, well, ethos but World of Echo is definitely unique in how it pre-dates it (although I detect a Nick Drake influence i think)

Every Arthur Russell album is different. Discovering what he is up to in each of them is half the fun.

lmao winesburgohio do you know what hypnagogic pop is?
if anything a john maus comparison makes some sense, although more because of his post-punk/dub elements than the hypnagogic pop elements...
|
| |
i looked up hypnagogic pop i like it. also, i feel it fits me perfectly. i'll wear it like a pear of
tidey whiteys with teal trim and a super gape that says hypnagogic pop. when you look at my queer cape
irl you are instantly redirected to this p4ge on sputnikmusic
review's bad, neg'd instantly "empty canvas is full" lmao
album's good though i think this kid's high off his own gay taco ass

i'll wreck u iscarabaid you just wait
honestly though i think it's fair to say that hypnagogic pop replicates this shit in ethos and i don't get the John Maus comparison, don't really hear post-punk or dub in this but perhaps i'm a ~less sophisticated listener~
