I disagree pretty heavily with this. Whilst the more SOTS esque moments aren't as good, there's riffs of decent quality and several great tracks. I'd disagree with the notion of it sounding tired since the band present effective new ideas. Still, decent review in any case.

And this is how you write a music review. Probably the best one I've read in months. Sticking to the most important facts and keeping it as short as it needs to be. Many people on here should follow your lead instead of writing 10+ paragraphs. As for the album : I've only listened to one song, never been a fan of the band, but I completely agree with you. It's like with almost every other comeback/reunion band. They fail to bring something new to the game and therefore lose all their relevance. (AIC excluded)

Ehm yeah. Melodic death metal may not be at its peak but DT is still going strong as always, and so is insomnium, and man, Soilwork's best album ever was released in 2013 so I'd say it's recreating itself, definitely not dead.

Pretty much sums up how I felt about this album. It's decent, but nothing more, which is a huge letdown, especially given the amount of hype that surrounded it.

Meh the meh.

So very fucking true. Bang on analysis Adam, huge high-five for having the balls to say it like it is.

And to anyone that says they've managed to hybridize their old-school material with SotS, you're just flat out dumb!!!! It's just as watered down as the metalcore bands they influenced 10 years ago.

Honestly though what is it with this kinda production nowadays? Even Carcass' comeback record was guilty of the same thing.

I also found the DT mention to be strange. It's like you are saying DT lost it when they incorporated keyboard into their sound which couldn't be further from the truth.

Anyway, not in a hurry to check this out.

Review is a bit harsh, but I can agree that the album is nothing spectacular. 3.5 for me.
