Not a solo album, but at least it's sounding quite good

The songs on his debut were either realllllly good or just terribly plain

Yeah, stuff like The Fear or Black Flies is so dark and powerful but I don't dig much that love crap in Keep Your Head Up or Only Love.

It seems he didn't either and during the tour of this album everyone pestered him to play those songs, which got him royally pissed.

Oh dude don't get me started, when he came to Melbourne there were these teenage girls who started singing Keep Your Head Up loudly after he finished begging for him to play it, and then all these FB comments after the gig complaining about him not playing the songs 'that got him to where he is today' and that they disliked the gig.

Great artist but some of his fans are the worst.

he pulls of this style much better than he did with the more acoustic leaning stuff, and it feels genuine here too. the more upbeat happier stuff on that first record felt a bit phoned in imo

Con, do me a favour and jam Black Flies from his debut, then jump to his EP and jam Oats in the Water, you'll see what we are talking about. He does that dark acoustic shit like no one else.
