"but stuff like Boredom and Teardrops is so much more bleak than you'd expect from what look like a 'joke band'."
--Yeah, exactly, they're funny and over the top, and then when you're not expecting it--wham--they hit you with something that's really bleak and sad . . . can't believe you've listened to 15 of their albums!

Right now, between every album I listen to I'll spin a Tiger Lillies album as some sort of palette cleansing thing lol. I'm addicted to them. We can't pick who we fall in love with...

ROFL--so true

Just tried those two songs - not bad (didn't love the vocals though), but I don't really have an itch for this kind of thing right now.

Totally understandable, you have to be in the mood.

This the sort of thing where I would be afraid that all the songs would sound the same... Those two songs do show they have more than one trick but I doubt I would end up going for 15 albums as you have, lol. I'll keep 'em in mind though and if I decide I'm in the right mood I'll give 'em a try.

I'm going to listen to the debut a few times more - I think that might be the perfect entry point album for me to recommend (unsurprisingly I guess, it being their first album and all).
Songs like 'In Her Room' aren't actually that far away from the Tindersticks.
