Back in 08, the chords for 'Cassius' were part of a song called 'Silver City'.

I recall hearing the trailer for this album and being hype af (https://youtu.be/uE_xsML2-uw). I remember having to sort of rush out this review when the album dropped because I was about to go on a week long vacation in the mountains with no phone/internet/wifi/TV, but I brought the CD along and played it on the tiny stereo in the cabin all vacation long and it really helped me bond with this in a way that I have with very few records. I would bring it in my car too whenever I'd drive anywhere and the sounds of the water lapping up against the shore would sync up almost perfectly with the sound clips that they put into "I Am All That I Need / Arroyo Seco / Thumbprint Scar" and now any time I hear those waves on the opener I'm instantly transported. I'd go as far as to say that this is a top 20 all time record for me.

Awww that's a lovely anecdote, Sowing. I'm glad you have that relationship with the album.

Did you see them live during the Crack-Up tour?

On my first listen right now. Wow. This is dense and way less indie-folk-rock than I was expecting.

Once I heard the first song, I was in love. It's right up my street.

Even just the opener here is so rewarding to listen to with good headphones. There’s so much going on. Crazy how these guys get pigeonholed as a stomp-clap indie band when they write stuff as dense and weird as this.

Side note where is new music?!?! Anyone remember when they announced Shore and also said they had another 10-12 songs that they would drop in 2021 as a sister album? Bruh where is it

Robin Pecknold said hopefully 2025 when asked about a new album.

Just discovered their Boston Harbor live video and am in love with it. What an amazing show.

Also, this is all rumblings from the shadows and there's not a shred of concrete evidence to support it, but folks in the know claim that their next album is going to be a return to the avant-folk of Crack-Up.

Yeah this album is their best, even tops Helplessness Blues. Would adore a Crack-Up II.

Robin is pretty active on their subreddit, he kinda gave away his two year plan a couple weeks ago. And I think he has mentioned before that he wants the next album to be a little more like Crack-Up, less like Shore

Shore is gorgeous but I'd also prefer if they kept it as a one time pop offering. Their progressive/experimental folk has always been their best (HB/CU).
